Blog 1- Prezi

In today's world, there is never enough time in the day to fly across the country and present new marketing presentations and ideas. PowerPoint’s are dry and slow; Prezi is a new type of presentation that allows the presenter to showcase their marketing ideas from the "cloud". The program zooms in and out of one idea to the next; each point showing a story and can contain videos and music if so desired. The idea of Prezi was to be better able to connect with the audience in ways of storytelling. With PowerPoint’s, the audience is easily lost with going too quickly through slides or having to find the old slide again. Prezi quickly transforms back and forth to ideas, or to an old point where the audience would like the presenter to recap.
Prezi thinks largely outside the box, and created a program to keep the audience captivated. Too many marketing campaigns are cut short by a lack of interest and originality. Many new marketing experts are switching their business meetings to those led by the software of Prezi; many people may send the presentation over e-mail to conduct the meeting if they cannot personally meet their clients. This is time efficient, and allows the clientele to understand the product on a high expertise level. Prezi allows the audience to see the presentation in a different way; in a way that the presenter envisions the idea in his own mind. This type of storybook presentation may allow the presenter and the audience to see different points of the marketing than they otherwise wouldn’t during a basic presentation.
The company has created the new presentation program to be compatible with not only computers, but iPads and smart phones as well. This in itself brings in all audiences from anywhere in the world to view the presentation. Allowing for an easy access at one’s individual time to watch the presentation will bring the idea a better chance of succeeding and enticing the audience. In my experience Prezi shows for the entire audience watching and taking notes of the presentation, and has a better retention rate than of the basic PowerPoints. Prezi will take off for both marketing meetings as well as classroom settings. Prezi is the new way of bringing across a point to a wide variety of clientele.

Animoto

How can you use Web 2 technology in practical applications? How about to organize your memories? What do you do with all the pictures you take when you are on vacations? How about those graduation pictures or seasonal holiday pictures? There is an application called Animoto that utilizes the web 2 technology to deliver an exceptional experience. Animoto is a brilliant video creation service that uses cinematic artificial intelligence and high-end motion design to combine your pictures with styles and music into videos that deliver excellent final products. This application will inspire people to utilize the power and magic of video into special reminders of your greatest experiences by following some very simple processes. It can also enhance your business using the same principals.
The process can be simple and free, or for a fee, an upgraded version that includes many bells and whistles. All one has to do is upload pictures and video clips onto your video creation. Combine those uploads into different styles or themes, add words to explain who or what is happening, and top it off with background music  for the finishing touch. Presto—you have a memory reserved for all to see.
This application can also be used for business. Animoto can be used to build presentations to showcase something about your company—a new store display, the last company meeting, a building for sale, the new distribution center in another country, or even something instructional. It could be used to build a step by step process with you as the trainer showing the proper procedure. This application has many features.
Remember the old slide shows your Uncle and Aunt would bring over to brag about what they did on vacation? How about boring presentations from a monotone speaker? Animoto takes current technology of today and enhances your ability to express anything through visual means. Don’t let your memories lie in camera rolls of thumbnail images. Don’t be that dry one tone speaker. Animoto can bring back life and knowledge to your audience through video that can be shared at any time. More information can be found at http//Animoto.com.

Push Technology
The web 2.0 technology that I would like to introduce is called Push technology.  Push technology is an effective way for a business to get advertising to the consumers. Push technology allows companies to push a message to consumers rather than waiting for the consumer to find it. Push technologies can dispatch web pages and news updates and can have sound and video geared to specific audiences or individuals.   http://www.pushtechnology.com/solution/social/

Push technology is designed to help businesses and social networking “find the right person at the right time that may happen to need to buy your product or service.” (Kerpen, 2011) The technology allows a business to monitor recent social media comments from or about the customer to identify potential opportunities.  The use of Push technology can help to put an end to wasteful marketing spending and search marketing and social media have rendered it possible to target exactly people you know are your customers and best prospects, not people you think are, based on intuition and vague understanding of market research.
When a business decides to use this type of technology it can be an enhancement to their marketing strategy.  Push technology is a good marketing tool that can be personalized for businesses and social networking sites to receive specific information.  This technology offers a way for businesses and social networking sites to be paid by advertisers who place their message on the internet.

Hi,

The new technology that I would like to discuss is the wireless flash drive. It appears that this may be a great device.

The USB flash drive that wirelessly streams movies, music, photographs, and documents to an iPad. The size of a pack of gum, it accepts an included 8 GB SD card (supports up to 32 GB SD cards) automatically sharing files wirelessly up to 150' away, eliminating an iPad's need to dock with a computer or use e-mail to transfer files.

Providing over five hours of stand-alone operation, it recharges via USB from any computer without the need for software, which also provides a convenient means of file loading and continuous file sharing. Up to six wireless devices can access the flash drive simultaneously using a free downloaded app, including iPhones, Android, and Windows smartphones.

A digital camera's SD card can be inserted; holiday pictures and videos taken at family gatherings can be immediately accessed by family members. With built-in data encryption, it provides secure transfers between similarly configured devices.

The Assignment

Examples of Web 2.0 technology being used for social and business application are all around us. New technologies are appearing all the time.Everyone in this course is responsible for writing 2 blog posts, with each being about 3-4 paragraphs long. Dates will be communicated to you and will be randomly assigned.

Your post should introduce the class to a new technology as well as its potential business application OR summarize and reflect upon an innovative technique using an already established Web 2.0 technology (like the Wheat Thins campaign.)

Be sure to read your classmates blog posts and comment as well!
